Dream Ontario: Destination Orillia Ontario #DreamON

This past year I was fortunate to discover the city of Orillia Ontario, through a series of trips. I wrote a lot of articles about Orillia and I have so much more to write still. If you are looking to discover a region in Ontario known for its beautiful cottage country, lakes, food that has an artistic side then you are going to love Orillia.

Tap into Maple Syrup Season in Orillia

The Orillia region is a great place to visit in early spring - the start of Maple Sugar Season in Canada. There are a number of sugarbush locations in the region and many of the local shops and restaurant all take part in the fun! It is a sweet time to visit Orillia for sure. For more about Maple Sugar season in Orillia visit my post at Dream Travel Magazine.

Orillia, Ontario Restaurants

On my list of favourite Ontario restaurants, Era67 in downtown Orillia is a fine dining experience like no other. The restaurant is known for its locally sourced food creations and is a popular stop for celebrities who visit the region. Read more about Era 67 in my review at Dream Travel Magazine.

Summer Farmer's Market

Right off the highway in Oro-Medonte is a new favourite stop amongst cottage country travellers. The OK Friday farmer's market is open Friday afternoons at the Burl Creek Event Grounds and features many local baked goods, produce and other shops and boutiqes. Visitors can grab a bite to eat or grab some produce and baked goods to take up to the cottage with them. Read more about OK Fridays at Dream Travel Magazine.

Summer Festivals in Orillia

Orillia's community is very big on celebrating their local talent and art in a series of summer festivals. The biggest is their Streets Alive Project which gives the local artists a chance to compete each year in a themed art project. In 2015 the project was Doors and local artists creations were located throughout the city all summer as local and visitors were able to vote for their favourites. See more about Streets Alive in Orillia here.

Orillia also shines bright during their Starry Night art gallery show which takes over the entire downtown core. Local artists display their creations in store shops, on the street and in their galleries who all open their doors for an evening of browsing and buying art. Fun in Orillia

Looking for something to do in Orillia? Check out their waterfront and enjoy a Kayak ride in the lake. It's super affordable and great to do on a summer day. Check out my kayak in Orillia adventure here.

Make it a Girls Getaway!

Casino Rama resort has a great "girlz getaway" package which include spa and dining credits. It was a great winter escape for me and while I forgot there was even a casino at this resort I found it a great place to stay while visiting the city of Orillia. The spa was fantastic! I had an incredible meal at St. Germains Steakhouse and loved my 2 night pampering package!
