My first #MardiGras parade was an experience I will never forget. The anticipation as we waited for it to start and watching people guard their spots was fascinating. When it all started I could not believe the energy of pure joy. The joy from the crowd and the joy from those on the magnificent floats throwing beads. Can I just say I had no idea how excited I would get trying to catch beads but also that fear as the beads, toys and other souvenirs were thrown out above me. Mardi Gras is a serious activity here and the festival is just starting. I’m so grateful to be here in #lafayette and meet and celebrate with this incredible community.
